The establishment of China Orient Telecomm Satellite Company,
Ltd. (Hereafter referred to as “China Orient”) is to keep
in line with the national reform and open policy and accelerate
the fast development of satellite telecommunication. With
the approval of the State Council, China Orient, as a
state-owned basic telecommunications enterprise, was initiated
mainly by the former Ministry of Posts and Telecommunications
(the former MPT), and jointly by domestic investments.

Capital RMB2,000,000,000.00.The present shareholders are
China Satellite Communication Corporation and China Broadcasting
& Communication Satellite Company Ltd.
Business scope: operating self-owned international and
national satellite space segment for communications and
broadcasting and satellite control facility system; operating
and managing satellite data communications, VSAT, satellite
navigation, satellite mobile communications and related
central stations; engaging in the import & export
of satellite and accessories as well as other satellite-related
communication facilities; contracting the projects such
as design, manufacturing, sales, installation, maintenance
and technical consulting of the equipment related to national
satellite communication and broadcasting services; investment,
business operation and technical consulting regarding
communication systems home and abroad; research and development
of new technologies in satellite communications and broadcasting.
